Old Bulbs Find a New Home in Kentucky

I appreciate rescuers like Alan who retrieved this bulb. It was in a discarded box, floating on rain water in a parking lot.

I believe it is a George Franke decorated Corning bulb. The paint colors are more typical of 1950s, the font is more George Franke than Shiny Brite and Shiny Brites just made better snowmen. Alan thought it was pre-war based on the Made in US of A cap but I think based on the scroll work and colors the cap has been switched.

New to collecting, Alan has been hunting thrift stores and finding gems.

The clear bell is a gem, likely blown in 1942 or 1943. With the tinsel and original bell shape, I’m leaning more to 1942. It should have the Made in US of A cap.

The red forest scene is a George Franke decorated ornament dating to the late 1940s. The red bulb, if it has a Made in US of A cap (and if it is the original cap) if it is 2 ½” or smaller would date between 1939 and 1941 or after 1946.
