Cheryl’s Silent Night With Flaming Candle

Wow! Cheryl that is a breathtaking ornament and one (of many) I’ve not yet seen. I think Silent Night with Flaming Candle is a hand painted George Franke late 1940s early 1950s post war ornament. Here are three reasons for my supposition. 1) The paint colors are vibrant and have held up better than war year ornaments. 2) The cap, which you indicated is corroded tight to the pike end of the ornament looks like a Franke cap and unless it says Made in U.S. of A, I’m sticking with post war. 3) I do know George Franke employed decorators to hand paint ornaments and am fairly confident Max Eckardt Shiny Brites relied on machine decorating. If you tip the ornament horizontally, measure from the top of the design to the pike end and from the bottom of Night to the end of the bulb. I’m betting there’s not an inch of white space bottom or top because the star looks to be flourishing up further supporting the hand painted nature of the treasure.

I think you have a super cool ornament.
