Lisa’s Jolly Holly or Caramoor Ornament

Lisa wants to know about her ornament:

It is stamped CALI COL

Lisa, your ornament completes the business circle of the Eckardt family. When Max Eckardt began his Shiny Brite business, he imported German ornaments for sale in the United States. After exiting the Shiny Brite business, Harold Eckardt, son of Max, distributed ornaments under the Jolly Holly and Caramoor Products brands. The ornaments were hand painted in Cali, Columbia.

Lynne Eckardt, daughter of Harold, grand daughter of Max, designed the Jolly Holly packaging which was more colorful than the Caramoor boxes.

With the sudden death of Harold, Caramoor Products and the importation of glass ornaments from Columbia ended.

The secondary market for Jolly Holly and Caramoor ornaments is interesting. There are fewer ornaments made in Columbia since Jolly Holly and Caramoor were around for less than eight years but the brands are also lesser known than Shiny Brites or George Franke.

So the short answer is Lisa, you have a Jolly Holly ornament, produced in Columbia between 1968 and 1976.
